Next May 23th, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, the Argentine Medical Association (AMA) and the Argentine Association of Hyperbaric Medicine and Research (AAMHEI) will offer the course on TherapeuticApplications of Hyperbaric Oxygenation Treatment (HBOT). The meeting will beaimed at health professionals and will take place at the headquarters of theAMA, located at Santa Fe 1171, CABA.

Throughout the six-hour, doctors from different specialties will discuss the theoretical aspects of hyperbaric oxygenation therapy and their experiences in the use of the hyperbaric chamber as a coadjuvant treatment for different pathologies that present with hypoxia or lack of oxygen.

Among the topics to be addressed in the first block of the course are: fundamentals of Hyperbaric Medicine, volumetric and solumetric effects, types of hyperbaric chambers, hyperbaric oxygen biochemistry and therapeutic physiological effects, indications, contraindications, adverse effects, biochemistry of healing, scientific evidence in wounds, infectious pathology and clinical cases of network of Hyperbaric Medicine centers.

Then they will discuss the treatment of hyperbaric oxygenation in plastic surgery and burns, complex wounds and diabetic foot, introduction to the applications of hyperbaric oxygenation treatment in Medical Clinic and Intoxications (inflammatory, tinnitus, migraine, ischemia reperfusion, carbon monoxide poisoning) and HBOT in oncology.

To close, the speakers will discuss inflammation and pain, rheumatic and orthopedic diseases, dysfunctional sensitive syndromes, hyperbaric oxygenation therapy in sports medicine,applications of HBOT in neurology, neurorehabilitation and hyperbaric oxygen inneurodegenerative diseases.

The day will end with a round of questions and a multiple-choice exam to assess the knowledge acquired by the participants. It will be under the direction of Dr. Mariana Cannellotto, president of the AAMHEI, and will have the presence of Dr. Mercedes Porta, head of Surgery at the Arturo Quemados Hospital. U. Ilia, among other doctors of different specialties who have incorporated the hyperbaric chamber into their professional practice.

The course costs $ 700 for doctors and $ 500 for non-medical professionals, residents, and students. Professionals must present original and the copy of title and identity document or certified photocopy; and the students must present original and copy of student’s book and identity document.
